Albany Rooster
Albany Rooster is a blood sport due in some part to the physical trauma the cocks inflict on each other. Specific type of game fowl, a rooster bred for cockfighting, known for its aggressive nature, muscular build, and high stamina. This is sometimes increased by attaching metal spurs to the cocks’ natural spurs. These roosters are medium-sized, weighing about 5 to 7 pounds, with a proud posture, and they come in various plumage colors like brown, red, black, or white. While not all fights are to the death, the cocks may endure significant physical trauma.
Albany roosters are naturally aggressive due to their breeding for fighting, but can be gentle if handled properly from a young age. In some areas around the world, Albany is still practiced as a mainstream event. In some countries, it is regulated by law, or forbidden outright. Their strong personalities also make them effective protectors against predators. They are known for high stamina, a trait developed through their athletic breeding history, suitable for cockfighting competitions. Practice popular in places like the Philippines and Mexico, and is often found alongside other breeds like Hatch, Kelso, and Sweater.
